Nah, man. Check out Juan Cole on the outcome. The Shia have an absolute majority in the new government, and they only need the Kurds to elect a president; everything else is strict majority rule. I don't think sharia in Iraq is the worst thing in the world, since at least it will have been democratically installed, and the Kurds are likely to hold sharia to those provinces that vote for it (ie, not kurdistan), but this is a massive victory for Iran. Hopefully, secular forces will be able to reassert themselves once we're out of Iraq, but it'll have to be a legitimate groundswell. We're gonna have to make the best of a VERY bad situation, from a US hegemony perspective.
