Doug Holtz-Eakin:

Who can forget (admittedly tax economists have a limited reservoir of thrills) the first time they saw the Hall-Rabushka postcard tax return?

The current 1040EZ form has 13 lines, including one for a credit for the federal telephone excise tax.

The postcard form (scroll to page 11) has 12 lines.

Big whoop. Simple pleasures for simple minds.

For what value of "simple minds" is it true that tax economists have them?

The answer to your question is: The value of "simple minds" of tax economist with them is greater than or equal to the number of tax economists that were "thrilled" when they first saw the postcard tax form.
