Stem Cell

by Nicholas Beaudrot of Electoral Math

More Republican disarray. With 15 pro-life Democrats voting against it, the stem cell bill passes 253-174. That's not particularly good news; the President will almost certainly veto this one again, and while the override will likely succeed in the Senate (I count Allen, Dewine, Talent, and Burns as anti-stem cell Republicans replaced by pro-stem cell Democrats), getting a 2/3s majority in the House looks much tougher. Even if the pro-life Dems are persuaded to poke the President in the eye, the pro-stem cell side is still 22 votes short. Some sort of compromise may be needed to get this thing into law.

Attach it as a rider to some emergency war escalation funding bill and watch it sail through.

What anon said. Or if there was a way for Halliburton to get the contract - Bush will sign in a flash!

THE PLAUSABLE DENIABILITY SWEEPSTAKES, FILL OUT YOUR ENTRY TODAY

© 2007 Mark Robert Gates

We all know how this works, we send in our operative, with an agreement, if caught we in America will deny all knowledge of this person having any existence. In Iraq, and given today's Iraq policy, it is time we "We American's" fall back on this, plausible deniabilty, as, there is still time and, as, there is still a possibility of maintaining, America's pristine, war image, by denying any involvement, by those past operative's now caught, in Iraqi war failure's, and involved in our current Ameri-government affairs. So, lets get our stories' straight and make sure we do not spill our guts, in a mistaken fear of loss, of our credible use of plausible deniability. Please, fill out your, Plausible Deniabiltiy Sweepstakes, entry, and send it in today, "We" could be America's next big winner.

We simply, all deny together, there is anyone, we know of, named, George W. Bush, who ever was, or who is now, an American president.

While I agree 100% with this post, I would like to add that people aren't pro life vs. pro abortion. Most of human kind is pro life. Either you are anti abortion or pro abortion. The use of "life" is not relevant in their arguments.

With 15 pro-life Democrats voting against it,

So, are these "pro-life" Dems introducing legislation to ban IVF and to mandate implantation of existing IVF blastocysts? Or are they actually just fucking hypocrites?

Yes, those were rhetorical questions.

So, are these "pro-life" Dems introducing legislation to ban IVF and to mandate implantation of existing IVF blastocysts?

What would be the point of that? Could it pass?

Hey, if we combined stem cell and minimum wage into one bill (call it, perhaps, the Wedge Issue Act) could we get overrides in both the House and the Senate?
