With a question: Any of you have a Wii? How do you like it?

I don't have a Wii, but I played it at a Thanksgiving Party. It was so-so, but it may have been the game more than the machine.
Speaking of which, video games are evil. Hillary Clinton said so, so it must be true.

No, but I'm hoping to buy one.

Would Ezra like a Wii for 'the holidays'?
Best plan ahead:
[from Amazon.com site:]We are currently out of stock: We sold out of our initial supply of the Wii on Sunday morning, November 19, in less than one minute. We expect to receive periodic shipments of the Wii from Nintendo throughout the holidays and we will post availability updates in this section of the product detail page as well as in the customer discussions below.
$700 for a gamebox when a actual real life PC can be bought for that! I'm sure glad i missed the gamebox thing, or i might have becomes aa DC wonk or something. And made GOOD.

Don't have one, but neighbors do. Haven't really played Zelda (that's the game for it now right?) but bowling is pretty fun.
I'm gonna wait for Smash Bros. to come out before I cop one. Smash Brothers will come with free online play, which means that I will own you, Ezra. Assuming of course that you purchase(d) a Wii, Smash Bros., and play online--an assumption I am audaciously willing to make.

Oh, and don't forget to get your renter's insurance and health insurance paid up to date, for if you google 'wii injury' you will see why....(they are now called wiinjuries - 708,000 links returned by google).
Need your eyes much?

Played Wii sports last night; I thought it was pretty awesome. Hurt both of my arms. The boxing is a pretty good workout...

Yes sir! Marc got one a couple days ago and we spent all of last night playing with it, which probably destroys any hipster cred I might have. But fuck it, it's fun! It pretty much makes you get off the couch and move around or you'll screw up, so you really get into the silliest games. We were just playing with Wii Sports, but there's more stuff out there that looks like it's wildly fun.

I have a Wii, yeah. It's freaking amazing. Specifically Zelda, Wii Sports and Madden. Zelda in particular is fantastic... less happy fun link and more "crap the world is going to end and I have to put up with this questionably evil cat thing that treats me like crap."
Red Steel, however, sucks.

Oh, as for injuries/property damage, it can be summed up in 7 words: "hold on to the damn controller, morons."
A tempest in a teapot.

Try fishing on Zelda, you'll be sold. How can a minigame be that fun?

My right elbow is now sore from the bowling game. It's crazy.

I don't have one, but my roommate does. I was really skeptical of it, but it has definitely won me over. Wii sports is one of the best social video games (behind multiplayer Goldeneye).

I think I'll stick with my Eye-Toy until they work out the bugs in the Wii. As I have told my son, one game system is enough for anyone. Looks cool, though I would clear the room of breakables and put up a protective screen for the TV before letting loose with that thing.

Amanda, then this is the comic for you.

I'll never move past my N64, if only because of MarioKart and Goldeneye. I kinda liked Banjo-Kazooie, too. Ha.

I destroyed on the boxing, leaving a pile of Mii corpses that look like my friends.

I am afraid to get a game system. I used to spend a ton of time with my super Nintendo back in college, I'm talking all nighters with friends playing Super Tecmo Bowl, and if I was to get one of these new gaming systems it would be like giving crack to a recovered addict. Right now I am just itching thinking about it and reading Amanda's comments. Someone please tell me, when you play Madden do you have full control over the quarterback? How does it work?
Posted by: jbou | Dec 10, 2006 9:03:47 PM
I dunno if Madden is out for it yet. The next game we have coming is Rayman Raving Rabbids, mostly because it seems like a really fun party game, since you have to break out of prison and fight an army of really stupid rabbits with a toilet plunger. I'm stoked.

Madden is out. You flip back to snap, then you hold down a button to pick a receiver, and the strength of your flick determines the force of the throw. When you have the ball, you use the remote to stiff arm, the nunchuck to juke, both forward to power through and drum both to break tackles.
On D, you can point to a player to select, then change his assignments on the play with one click. It's much better than the stupid 3-button combos or player cycling you have to do on other systems.
Kicking, you start low and swing up for force, while keeping it level to control slice and fade. It's a lot like Wii Bowling.
It's really a joy to play.

Did anyone else see that the Dems are now conferring with terrorists?

A real friend to the Jews, the Democrats are.

To JimPortlandOR: List price for a Wii is $250. The $700 price tag is from unscrupulous resellers (not Amazon themselves) adding a premium because the Wii is one of the must-haves this xmas. I advise all to wait until after the holidays, when price and availability will return to normal.
To senior: One of the features of the Wii is being able to download games from older systems (like the N64!) onto it for about $5. I don't think any of the three games you mention are available just yet, but they may be on the way...
(Note: No Wii yet for me... I'll probably hold off until more games are out for it that I am interested in playing...)

Pheromones have been proven to work, and are guaranted to increase your attractiveness to women of all ages. Just look at some of the testimonials we have received back from 100% satisfied repeat customers! :
"I've always had a problem approaching girls. They would just walk past me like I didn't exist. I sometimes felt like they purposely would not give me any attention just because they were snobby and stuck up. Now, when I use Ultra Allure Pheromones, it's alot easier to approach girls because THEY are usually the ones that will smile at me first or make eye contact."
Robert K, Boise Idaho
"I saw you guys offered a moneyback guarantee, so I though I would give it a go(I had nothing to lose). Well how glad am I that I did! My first night out with a little Ultra Allure on me I had 4 different girls ask me what I was wearing and what I was doing later(I met up with the hottest of the 4 ;) ) Now I don't even leave the house without throwing on a few dabs of Ultra Allure- its my (not so) secret weapon! I can honestly say this product truly works, women are really drawn to you once they catch a little bit of the scent."
