Your take on Universal Health Insurance has a couple of holes in it: First of all, between half and two thirds of health care spending is already coming from the taxpayer through governnment programs. The rest, the "private" insurance and "market place" part of health care spending goes mostly to insurance company and big pharma profits and waste. We are already spending more than enough on health care to cover everyone with fully comprehensive care if we only go to a rational single-payer system. We're paying for the best health care system in the world, just not getting it!
