Comment Rules

Just to make something clear: Repeated, off-topic comments will get you banned. This site is not a forum for your personal agenda or individualized crusade. You can disagree with me all you want, but you do so on-topic -- no hijacking threads.

Does this mean you finally banned Ron Greiner?

Posted by: Kylroy | Sep 13, 2006 3:35:38 PM

Yeah, if you want to do that sort of thing, go to Atrios' site. His comment threads are all over the place.

Posted by: fiat lux | Sep 13, 2006 3:36:26 PM

Hurray! Your comment threads have generally had a fairly high signal-to-noise ratio, which I (and I'm sure a lot of other people) appreciate. Thanks for taking action to keep it that way.

Posted by: Tom Hilton | Sep 13, 2006 3:42:35 PM

But his HSA advocacy was just so goddamn trenchant. And I can't believe you don't see the connection between HSA's and Keith Olbermann. It's so amazingly obvious...

Coke and Pepsi are the same. It's a plot. Wake up people!

I'm with Tom on the Hurray bandwagon.

At first I was actually amused by Ron's return (I assume it's him we're talking about). The very idea of someone like him is sort of comical. But his ability to completely hijack a thread by accounting for almost half the comments, all of them barely coherent, was a problem.

I've been amazed that he lasted this long. Dave Justus is nearly a model objecting viewpoint. Fred's prone to getting angry, but not wandering off-topic.

Ron, though? Did he EVER make a post without "HSA" in it? Was it his prolonged absence that saved him from getting banned earlier?

fred and toke are prone to being racists- but why let that bother anyone.

Posted by: akaison | Sep 13, 2006 4:49:47 PM

I kinda miss Fred, actually. It was so neat the way I could tell my hypertension medication was working because I didn't actually have a stroke when I read his posts.

LOL at American Hawk, who is (I assume) a fake spammer and not a real one. If that is real spam and not sarcastic spam, then change "LOL" to "boo for . . . ."

Posted by: mattfwood | Sep 13, 2006 5:09:58 PM

Is this about your Nazi post, Ez?

Posted by: Jimmm | Sep 13, 2006 5:13:56 PM

"fred and toke are prone to being racists- but why let that bother anyone."

Yes, but on-topic racists. The comments rules do not require you to agree or even act like a reasonable, 21st century human being. But they to mandate discussion of the topic at hand, and Fred, Dave, and even Toke don't wander any further than other commenters.

Posted by: Kylroy | Sep 13, 2006 5:22:15 PM

Yeah, sorry for hijacking that one, kids. Sometimes I get a little worked up when people think they know what happened 1925-1945 because they watched a PBS special drunk once. That said, I tried mightily to stay on topic.

Fred I kinda miss, for all my mocking him. CT I don't. RG even less.

Ezra, if you follow through on this pledge, I have no idea where I am going to receive information concerning great stock tips, opportunities to invest in the Third World and cheap pharma drugs.

Sarcasm confirmed. Please don't ban me, TPTB, even though I don't comment that often...

Posted by: American Hawk | Sep 13, 2006 6:58:20 PM

wcw, I think you were completely off-base on that thread (and said so), but you were on-topic, so I don't think that falls under what Ezra is talking about here. Really, this is about the guy who was incessantly touting HSAs on every comment thread (and never commented about anything else).

Posted by: Tom Hilton | Sep 13, 2006 7:08:54 PM

well he did comment on other things- mostly about how ultra liberal socialist commie illegal immigrant fags we were- but then he would begin and end the sentence with hsa- and healthcare- did I forget to say hsa?

Posted by: akaison | Sep 13, 2006 7:25:53 PM

akaison likes to think about "Mini-Me" from "Austin Powers" movies while he jerks off.

I have just as much evidence of that as he does of me being a racist.

That being said, I couldn't disagree more with Ezra on just about every subject, but I do respect his allowing opposition views on this site. He has never deleted a single comment of mine, and many(comments) have pushed the envelope as far as attacking others (although I am ussually attacked first), being off topic, etc. And I am sure he probably couldn't stand what I wrote.

He is a 'liberal' in the 1960's definition. They were tolerant of other views and could be gotten along with.

They were wrong too, though.

Posted by: Captain Toke | Sep 13, 2006 7:36:04 PM

So, liberals in the 1960s were wrong, but there is no evidence whatsoever that you hold racist views.

I'm not trying to start a war here or anything, just saying that those are probably two things you'd rather not put in the same comment.

"They were wrong too, though."

Still am. Gotta stop amoking that stuff someday. How can you be nostalgic for what you never left? Or something. I forget.

The sad thing is that I can out think you while I'm stoned.

Sixties liberals would allow conservative speakers on a campus without assaulting them. They didn't have all the vile, vitriol and just plain shit flowing from their mouths the way they do today.

Liberals of the sixties did attack innocent soldiers, so they weren't all nice.

Liberals of the sixties did attack innocent soldiers, so they weren't all nice.

And the prevalence of incidents where returning soldiers were spat upon was never, ever, ever exaggerated.

Ezra Klein: the newest blogcommentofascist. Why do you hate the first amendment, Ezra?
