You Do the Math

Shakes here...

Per John, below, 39% of Americans believe that Muslims should be force to keep special ID. Per CNN, 60% of Americans now oppose the Iraq War. And according to my survey, 1% of Americans believe they live on Mars.

I think that accounts for everyone.

And about 30% of Americans can't remember what year September 11th happened...but they can remember the month and day!

66% of Americans suffer from mild mental retardation. An additional 30% of Americans are batshit insane.

And yet, they know what group attacked us and their motivation.

Amazing!

I think George Carlin put it best when he said "Just think how stupid the average person is and then realize that half of 'em are stupider than that!"

And yet, they know what group attacked us and their motivation.

Where does it say that in the linked article, I wonder? All of the polling data I've seen says pretty much the opposite, with an inverse relationship between the amount of Fox News watched and actually knowing who was involved in 9/11.

And I'd like to hear Fred's Republican Talking Points on who attacked us on 9/11 and why. Let's hear the delusions. Further, I'd like to hear Fred's spin about why the person who actually financed the 9/11 attacks is still free.

I'd like to hear Fred's spin about why the person who actually financed the 9/11 attacks is still free.

Because if we caught him, the left would like it, and therefore anything the left would like would make us less safe.

I'd like to hear Fred's Republican Talking Points on who attacked us on 9/11 and why. Let's hear the delusions.

I'd really rather not hear them, thanks. It's not like they'll be surprising or new to anyone here, and whatever satisfaction might be gained by venting at dim-witted GOP tools will most likely be short-lived. As far as I can tell the troll conversations in these threads edify and entertain no one, least of all the commenters and trolls actually involved, which only makes their persistent presence all the more baffling. Most right-wingers, I would assume, have better things to do than they.

It was Iraquis who attacked us, and they did it because they hate our freedom.

Just for those who were hoping to hear Fred's "reasoning."

Entirely untrue, of course, but that's OK if you're a Republican.

This sort of survey really makes me wonder, though. Who came up with this specific question ("carry a special I.D.") and why? Why are we also hearing about folks surveyed with a pop quiz as to which year the WTC was hit by planes? There are surely plenty of other questions which would be more insane, more leading, or more designed to make an ugly point about the public. More of the same can be trotted out as someone decides some segment of the public needs riling up, perhaps. This sure has some of the same ugly feeling as push-polling, without a specific individual gaining at the expense of another specific individual. 1% live on Mars indeed.

Magenta, how dare the Iroquios attack us?! We must take their lands, forthwith! [/joke]

Posted by: TJ | Aug 10, 2006 5:51:50 PM

I don't think its a push poll to ask someone what year 9/11 happened. If someone can't answer that- I would like to know what bunker they been in for the last few years.

Modern progressive: "I will stick my fingers in my ears and yell 'Lalalalalalalalalala....' until those who point out that most all of the international terrorism in the last few decades has been caused by young Muslim males stop saying that............. What? All of the plotters in this mass murder plan captured in London are Muslim men?!!"

Posted by: Fred Jones | Aug 10, 2006 10:52:06 PM

Perhaps so, Fred, but none of the 9/11 terrorism was caused by Iraqi men. And indeed, it seems that all the plotters were British men. Now, why are we in Iraq again?

Posted by: Allen K. | Aug 11, 2006 1:30:15 AM

Clearly, Britain should invade itself.

Posted by: Christmas | Aug 11, 2006 7:50:46 AM

I saw he suicide tape released by Al-Queda of the British-born suicide bomber who murdered those on the bus this morning on Good Mornign America. He stated directly that he was involved in a religious war against the western democracies. Those who refuse to believe this is, indeed, a religious war are behind the curve. Being born British mattered little to him.

Your enemies have already set the standard and you will forever be at a grave disadvantage until you understand their premises.

So apparently religious discrimination is just fine with many on the religious right. I wonder how they would feel if this country actually allowed that to move forward. I wonder how they would feel when the tides turned against them and all their fears of government suppresion of the rights of Christians came true. I fear the day we decide to restrict the rights of any religion. Being a Christian myself I am none to keen on restricting anyones faith - It would be horrifying to find myself imprisoned one day for my own faith.

This is a religious war. But it is not a war between Islam and the west - it is a war between Muslim extremists and everyone else, including other Muslims. Does anyone honestly believe that the "Hezbos" as it were, care a whit that they are directly responsible for the attacks on innocent men, women and children in Lebanon? To the contrary they welome it as a momentum to step up their own offensive and a way to rid themselves of average Muslims, convert others to their extremism and also rid themselves of some of the Christians and Jews in Lebanon.

The Muslim extremists are no different than certain "christians" who shoot abortion doctors, blow up clinics or even blow up government buildings. This does not mean we go to war with people of faith - we just hunt down, capture and punish the perpetraters.

DuWayne, you powers to understand the obvious are amazing! The big difference, however, is the Muslim extremists are organized, well funded and active. When was the last time an abortion doctor has been shot and do they have a world army of those who wish to kill non-actor innocents?

Being Muslim is one of the best ways to narrow suspects. It is a reliable marker and racial profiling is an affective tool in the war against this well funded force. All of the PC stuff won't mean crap if we're all dead.

Posted by: Fred Jones | Aug 11, 2006 12:05:08 PM

Your right Fred, lets just cower in fear of the Muslims. Take away their rights. And later we can cower in fear when the powers that be take away our rights to worship.

This country wouldn't be worth saving if it means we are no longer going to be Americans. This is not about PC, this is about grinding away at the very foundation of this great republic.

While were at it with racial profiling, shouldn't we also target black? They commit a lot of crimes. How about Hispanics? Most of them are illigals aren't they? What about the Japenese, we used to be at war with them - come to think, lets go after the Germans and Italians too. Ooh, lets round up the hippies and queers as well. And since they obviously don't know who they should be voting for, lets just take away the right to vote from poor people and liberals or anyone else who doesn't support war and the absolute extinction of Islam and it's followers.

Your bloody brilliant Fred.

When everyone that attempts mass murder by suicide bombs on airplanes is of one ethnicity, color, religion, height, sex or any other characteristic then, yes, you'd be an idiot not to use that marker. You didn't address the efficacy of that tool, only that you didn't want to use it.

You want to catch fish? You fish where the fish are.

Posted by: Fred Jones | Aug 11, 2006 3:10:40 PM

Your bloody brilliant Fred.

You're not.

Posted by: Fred Jones | Aug 11, 2006 3:20:28 PM

First of all, moron, they are not all of the same ethnicity or color. While many of them have similar sounding names they can appear quite different - most Iranians I know appear caucasian, for example. Many other mid-easterners look more hispanic than "Arabic" as it were. So do we profile the hispanics and anyone with especialy dark hair? They could be terrorists. Then of course we have African Muslims, many of whom have come here and some blacks born here who are also Muslim. Now admittedly there is a signifigantly lower probability of a black Muslim to be a terrorist but i'm quite certain it happens. So do we profile the blacks too? Of course when you open the flood gates what the hell is to stop the authorities from profiling any group they might find suspect for anything? Say, cops profile a white person driving through a shitty neighborhood, in a nice car or SUV as a drug buyer.

And I must apologise Fred, your not bloody brilliant - your a fucking moron. Cower in fear, build yourself a fucking bomb shelter if you must. But if you really need to live where you will be "safe" and "secure" from yourself as well as the terrorists, please move to a country that already infringes on the rights of it's people to have freedom. Most of us here in America would like to keep that.

Posted by: DuWayne | Aug 11, 2006 6:31:34 PM

Your motives in this discussion is not based upon safety, but on promotion of your social agenda and what profiling might do to it's advancement.

I think by the past history of international terrorism as experienced by the US and it's allies, that we can rule out Chinese looking people, blue eyed people, and several other physical characteristics and spend our resources more wisely. If, and when, a nuke is detonated in a major American city, the public will demand profiling.

....your a fucking moron.
"you're", dumbass. It appears you are the moron who can't even spell.

Posted by: Fred Jones | Aug 12, 2006 4:13:41 PM

Fred: Nezar Hindawi and his pregnant Irish fiancee disagree that the kind of profiling you're calling for is effective.

Posted by: Hamilton Lovecraft | Aug 12, 2006 4:22:58 PM

I think the bigger point here is that you and others on the left don't really care whether it's effective or not. Your measuring stick is whether it would further or hinder your social agenda or not and devil take national security.
Thank GOD that most in this country understand your motives and believe you are not to be trusted with national security.
