It's All Fun and Games, Until Someone Loses an Election

by Nicholas Beaudrot of Electoral Math

You may have heard that Kansas Republicans voted for a reality-based Board of Education, which was a nice piece of news. But in lesser-reported news (via Raw Story), five Rhea County, TN commissioners have either lost re-election or resigned. How cool is that!

More proof that the reactionary social agenda is only popular so long as it's not implemented.

Exactly... or more specifically, as long as it's only likely to affect people one dislikes anyway. And as long as it's not downright embarrassing.

Ah, Rhea County. Also known for hosting the Scopes Monkey Trial in 1925. These guys are something. At least they solved this one relatively quietly at the ballot box, instead of throwing a national circus.

No it is not good news when some Republicans do something sane, making the rest of their agenda more viable. Jesus, I can see the Democratic Congress now making deals and selling out to the hey not so bad after all Republicans.

You will never find a post like this at Red State.

Don't worry too much, bob. The next election will feature the return of a conservative majority on the Kansas Board of Education, and they will waste little time in implementing their patented brand of hijinks.

This is about the 6th time the Board majority has changed in this way, over the same issues.

I must have adult-onset dyslexia, or else just didn't read that carefully: I thought the title was "...all fun and games until someone loses an," uh, something else. Thought it was about Bob Dole.
