"Short of selling cereal and milk in a bowl or a pre-microwaved microwave pizza, I’m not sure how much more ridiculous it gets than hot dogs and buns bundled together to save you 10 seconds of prep time."

Obviously, the next step is to eliminate the time-wasting eating and digestion steps, and sell shit directly to the consumer.

Petey,

How about a hotdog and a bun inside of a disposable microwave (with batteries). Push a button, and the microwave is pre-programmed to cook your hotdog to perfection! Of course, it's a single-use microwave, so you can toss it out after you're done. The three-pack is a bit bulky, but boy is it convenient!

Soylent Green?

Seriously, on a serious topic. Why can't one buy a decent (similar to bakery-grade rolls) hot dog bun - other than the tasteless, mushy, falls-apart mass-production 'store hotdog buns'?

And, anyone who eats any hotdog bun without toasting or grilling it first deserves the awful putrid taste of a raw bun.

These things are important to civilized existence, why don't we pay attention?

Jim,

Is steaming OK? Because otherwise, you will find a mob of hotdog cart vendors at your door, begging to differ.

i beg to differ....one must scroll up to the thread on "sex scene of the day" for the correct preparation of hot dogs....
and it is completely optional at that point,
if one would relish a bit o' mustard!!
hahaha!

It is amazing the lengths to which we have taken convenience foods. I was pretty horrified when I started to see pre-cubed cheese. Pre-shredded is at least somewhat understandable. There is actual effort involved there, and if you're just trying to put together a quick quesdilla or pizza at lunch, it saves significant time. But cubing cheese? Not a big time commitment.

I'm all about using easy-to-prepare ingredients, but it long has started to become ridiculous.

jacqueline, I am equally impressed and disturbed by your comments today. Well done!

Every oven has a broiler. If it's under 15 years old, it probably has two settings. Use the low setting and broil that hot dog. Microwaved hot dogs are disgusting. Broiled hot dogs, however, are quite tasty, even if you wrap them in sandwich bread.

Hot dogs: I prefer the memories of them as a kid to be unsullied by eating them now.
