"...forcing both parties to treat each other with greater respect and showing Republicans that power imposes responsibilities and can be much less fun than booing from the bleachers."
Well, that little prediction didn't pan out, huh?

Especially if your pulpit is the Wall Street Journal.
This dustup seems a lot like the old and famous advice to trial lawyers to never ask a question in court of a witness that you already don't know the answer to.
It's just amazing how it hasn't penetrated into more 'public minds' that everything is searchable now, and that issueing a challenge (that you don't know the answer to) is the proverbial waving flag in front of the bull. The bull will charge.
How can the online editor of the WSJ's opinion site be so fucking dumb?
While on Media Matters, I'm going to ask a question I don't know the answer to, so I can be fucking dumb too. Why does the established media (as opposed to bloggers) ignore Media Matters?

Or, alternatively, don't say things that are stupid, implausible, and easily proved false, and then challenge your readers directly to do just that.

Well, to his credit, Jim Taranto's retraction and mea culpa was pretty gracious. (Rolls eyes, looks at watch.)
