OK, yeah, Republicans are a bunch of clowns. Who can disagree? But I'm really curious about why the more prominent liberal blogs -- like this one, like Talking Points Memo, like Kevin Drum's site -- have abolutely nothing to say about the 3 out of 4 Dem Senators who rolled over and voted to renew the "Patriot" Act. Maybe they actually bothered to read it this time, and for that I'm s'posed to be grateful?

Call it threadjacking if you want, but I don't see the point of discussing leftie wish lists and debating points when the politicians who are supposedly on our side sell out -- every fucking time! -- on what I would think are bedrock issues.

Ezra, the sad part is that most people will find these jokes funny. I mean, sure, you and I might think the Montana GOP jokes are stupid, but the much of the country has the sort of sense of humor that kept "Everybody Loves Raymond" on the air for so many years. I guess the only thing that would really bug me is if I found the GOP spokesmen not to be cynically exploiting the lame sense of humor of the audience but if said GOPers actually shared that sense of humor with their constituents.
