Photo Blegging
Recently I've been in contact with a professor at LSU who's writing a book about blogs. He's looking for cool uses of photography by liberal bloggers. I pointed him to Lindsay's Katrina and Tom DeLay photos. If anybody can think of more stuff like that, please mention it in the comments! We're not looking for photos taken by news organizations here -- just photos that liberal bloggers have taken themselves.

South Knox Bubba's blog contained lots of self-taken photos. Most were of wild birds, but some were of political subjects, particularly rallies.

this may not be exactly the kind of links you are looking for, but one way to do it is to look up blogs from flickr users with a flair for activism
try this, this, and this as a start for finding users who may have blogs that interest your professy.

Do cat photos count?

Yes, bob, though the cats have to be engaging in politically significant behavior.

Firedoglake uses some great graphics created by Inflatable Dartboard, who uses photographs as the basis for the graphic.
