James Dobson is Bad For My Soul

What does it say that every time Dobson opens his mouth, I begin to blaspheme? Whenever he appears on my television or computer screen, I take the Lord's name in vain. This can't be good.

Or can it? If James Dobson knew he was driving, say, half the country to sin, you think he'd stop? Anyway, this isn't just a random Dobson rants. John Cole noticed he's put out the warning signs of a child becoming one of the gays. and they're fairly funny. So if you're son is "different" from other boys, cries constantly, pretends he's female, only hangs out with girls, gets teased by other boys (particularly called "queer" -- 10-year olds have very perceptive "gaydars"), walks/talks/dresses like a homo, and insists he's a girl, he might be gay.

Well, yeah, that does seem possible. But by the time I got to the end of his list, I was totally distracted by the uber-hot, multiracial women exhorting me to join "Focus on Your Child". So now I was lusting in my heart.

That settles it. James Dobson is bad for my eternal soul.

Don't think that he'd stop if he knew this. Deep inside, he wishes you and all of us eternal damnation.

That settles it. James Dobson is bad for my eternal soul.

What does it matter? "We Don't Believe", remember?

WTF? I fit into many of those categories when I was 10-11 years old. I was non-athletic, tended to get beat up and bullied a lot, and tended to get teased unmercifully for a variety of things. I think "fag" was the name-call of choice for 12-13 year olds when I was that age too.

So I suppose I must be gay. Oh, wait - I've never been attracted to men in my entire life, which is actually one of the signs that you might actually BE gay (at least, according to my gay friends, what do they know?)

What a jackass. I wonder if he's doing this on purpose to collect more souls for his Satanic Master or something - very little is going to screw kids up more than their homophobic fathers going down a checklist and convincing themselves that their pre-adolescent kids are gay. It's just begging for disaster.

Wasn't there a story recently about a Florida guy who beat his son to death because he thought he might be gay? That's the type of stuff that this idiocy will encourage.

Why is it so important for these so called religious people to identify, tag, and actively hate gay people? What's the point? Seems that the only thing the religious right is capable of is judgment.

Minor correction: That's "child becoming one of tEh gays."

Biggest queen I know--a good friend of mine, at that: was incredibly athletic, something of a bully, teased effeminate boys and girls mercilessly, hung out with the guys, etc. Of course, we now know that he was compensating, keeping a tight lid on the big, flaming moe he is now proud to be.

But of course, all this is to suggest that there's a logical reason to argue with Dobson point-by-point, which is crazy....

And Nony, the kid who was beaten to death? Three years old. Three fucking years old. The father tried to toughen the tyke up by boxing with with him. Repeat: three years old. Damn!

Horatio : Obviously the passage "Judge not, lest ye be judged" isn't understood or observed. Many people strive to be "up" by putting others "down". Somehow "win-win" strategy goes by the board. I'm nasty. Worry about the good opinion of those whose opinion is worth something.

This is a good thing, Ezra, as is the focus on Dobson. Remember how the GOP tarred us with groups that were no longer relevant to the party in the last twelve years just b/c they were unpopular with some in the aggregate (unions, academics, etc...)? Remember all the strawmen that have been assembled over the last thirty years?

Well, he's just as relevant (arguably more so) and even more goofy and abhorrent to most voters.

Wait a minute, Rev. Dobson! I thought you told me that being gay was a "choice." Now you're telling me that pre-adolescents--kids who hardly know what sex IS--need to be monitored carefully for "gayness." WTF?

They need to be screened for all mental anomalies. That's what good parents do.

Dobson is Satan's dream of a secret agent.

Those who are opposed to Dobson hate him and are thus led toward Hell.

Those who support Dobson hate for him and are thus led toward Hell.

It's a win-win situation for the Pits...

You what is just as pathetic as someone writing this garbarge? Someone even more pathetic is actually going to believe it.

It's all about the gays and abortion. All evil in the country comes down't to those things. I just don't get the utter obsession with these topics.

Yes, Fred, you show us the unfortunate results when parents fail to do what you recommend...........

Same ol' Avenger. Personal attacks with nothing new to say othet than "My opinion is right and everyone else is wrong....Waaaaaa....Waaaaaaaaa"

Show me one father who has jumped up and down with joy upon learning that his son is a homosexual? Here's the truth. It is, indeed, an anomaly. You can jawbone as much as you wish, but it will never be normal just as tourett, autism or down is not normal. I agree these people have rights and it is a free country so they can do as they please....but spare us all from your assertion that homo is normal.

Show me one father who has jumped up and down with joy upon learning that his son is a homosexual?

Sure, as soon as you show me a father who has jumped up and down with joy upon learning that his son is left handed. Or has extra-wide feet. Or enjoys really, really hot weather. Or any number of other things that are unusual but have no bearing whatsoever on whether someone is well-adjusted, intelligent, kind, moral, skilled, or any of the other attributes that a parent like me actually celebrates in his child.

People are born with certain deep instincts such as survival, fear of falling, etc.Simply the fact that the natural sexual instinct has been circumvented indicates that the individual has issues.
Would you argue that those who have a broken instinct for survival (suicides) are OK as well?

Posted by: Fred Jones | Aug 11, 2005 5:16:51 AM

Well, most of the criticism looks like it has been well thought out from these people. Maybe you should read an actual book of Dr. Dobsons before you go on a rant on how evil he is. I guess it is true, you can have an opinion, just as long has you agree with every one else. If we all thought that way the word "opinion" would cease to exist. No where does Dobson preach hatred or malice for any one who is gay, in fact he is the opposite of such criticism. He preaches love and healing.

He backs his opinions with studies and research. If you disagree with him, you disagree with the same medium that "proves" that being gay is a choice.
