Question
Is anyone else watching the president's press conference? He's doing stem cells right now and seems strangely hysterical. Out of breath, stammering, desperately defensive -- this is first term Bush, and in a bad way. On the bright side, he just said he won't attack North Korea.
Related note: the WaPo says his mandate is over.

I saw it, and it was, as usual, a trainwreck. You would think that given the state of Iraq and his approval ratings, that his handlers would reassess the way he answers these types of questions. His answers are the same, tired, desperate, and out-of-touch talking points they've always been, and I don't understand how it is reassuring anyone.
I suppose, though, to change the talking points is to admit that they were wrong, and they'll destroy our military, image, and country before they even think about doing that.

I saw only the end - where Bush turned brazenly partisan. It does seem the ONLY thing that matters to him is that folks vote Republican.

I actually listened for a while this morning, which I usually can't stand to do. He just makes no effort to answer the question. Questions are launching pads for which verbal missile he was previously planning to set loose. Not that this is news, or anything, but it's odd how we all agree not to notice the particular conventions of this art form.
