News About News

According to Singer, the leading lights of the right-leaning blogosphere are setting up some sort of professional news service. And believe you me, Matt's not the only one anxiously awaiting dispatches from the Iraq correspondent stationed in Toledo, Ohio. More exciting yet will be the Social Security expert who spends half the year on Chile's website and the political columnist reporting directly from Peggy Noonan's hypothalamus. That sound you hear? That's the AP's knees knocking...

Hey Ezra,

Didja notice that Marc Cooper's on board?

Huh -- I didn't...what the fuck's that all about?

How would their news service work? Would they fire their own reporters if they see something that doesn't conform to Republican orthodoxy? Would it be news like Talon News was news? I hear Jeff Gannon still needs a job.

I'm still trying to figure out what to make of this also. I actually dropped them a note yesterday to find out more about their plans, which include a blog-based advertising network. They did send me the information. One thing they want (which concerns me) is a 120-day agreement to represent a blogger's content (in all forms) to other publishers. I could definitely see right-wing content getting full representation while the rest of us twiddle our thumbs for four months.... I'll be happy to pass along the forms they sent me to anyone who's interested.

And the right-wing officially reaches albatross status.

Cooper? Appalling. I would have expected Jeff Jarvis...
