Why McDonalds is a Threat to the Republic

Wondering why Americans keep, uh, dying so much younger than citizens of other countries? Part of the reason may be that magnificent symbol of Americana, the Golden Arches, which seems determined to kill off domestic customers at a young age:

The Danish researchers tested products from the chains' outlets in dozens of countries in 2004 and 2005, analyzing McDonald's chicken nuggets, KFC hot wings, and the two chains' fried potatoes. The findings were reported in Thursday's New England Journal of Medicine.

At a New York City McDonald's, a large fries-and-chicken-nuggets combo was found to contain 10.2 grams of the trans fat, compared with 0.33 grams in Denmark and about 3 grams in Spain, Russia and the Czech Republic.[...]

Trans fat raises bad cholesterol and lowers good cholesterol. Eating just 5 grams of it per day increases the risk of heart disease 25 percent, research shows.

Yikes.

I've read that NO amount of trans-fat is acceptable for health. The numbers reported for NYC don't indicate what part of the trans-fat is in the fries and what in the chicken. I'd guess the fries, since the variety of cooking oils probably is the difference - but they may cook the chicken in the same oil. After removing beef lard from the oil a number of years ago, complaints on the safer oil's taste led McD back to the larded variety, at least in the US. They do taste good though LOL.

As is so often with those flakey europeans, the Danes seem to have it right, but surely that's because they are wimps, right?

Fat tastes good in general. Once acquired, the taste for it doesn't recede but grows. And hearts are transplantable, right?

"And hearts are transplantable, right?"

Absolutely! And you can shop around with your new consumer-based HSA for a bargain surgeon, maybe get the heart on eBay or Craigslist?

Fast food is generally gross to me. I'll eat it when I'm in a pinch on the road somewhere, but I prefer not too. McD has got to the be the worst out of the 3 burger joints.

Like Adrock I eat well and I avoid fast food, unless in a pinch.

I figure it kinda balances out the cigarettes and heroin.
I kid!

I've basically been doing nothing worth mentioning. Today was a total loss. That's how it is. Today was a loss. Basically nothing seems important, but eh. My mind is like an empty room. Basically nothing notable happening these days. My life's been completely boring today.

I've just been staying at home waiting for something to happen. I just don't have much to say right now, but so it goes. I've basically been doing nothing to speak of, but shrug. Today was a loss. I don't care. That's how it is.
