Pushback
by Nicholas Beaudrot of Electoral Math
Via The Carpetbagger Report, the RNC is running ads falsely blaming the immigration fiasco on Harry Reid, when it's been pretty clear to all observers that Senate Republicans are trying to gut the amendment.
There's no reason for these sorts of shenanigans to stand. If there was ever a case where the Senate Democrats' new "war room" was called for, this is it. If you live in the Las Vegas area, now would be a good time to write a letter to the editor, call in on talk radio, email your local news broadcasters, and in general push back against Republican unwillingness to accept responsibility.

The DNC and the congressional Dem. committees really need a 'fighting media fund'. We should rapidly push back when the Rethugs engage in their truth twisting ad buys and coordinated media messages.
No challenge should be left without response. But response is adequate also. I'm talking about something like Media Matters (and other truth-exposing blogs) written very large, and very publicly.
In addition, pro-active message need to get out in front of likely misinformation campaigns by the Rethugs.

error above: But response is adequate also should be inadequate alone.

In evaluating the successes of the GOP media campaigns of the past decade, it seems clear that their goals are to neutralize rational discussion, so as to bring to bear their natural strength -- deep pockets. They can always spend more than Democrats on non-rational, emotional appeals -- cue the music, the flag, the sunset, the brave soldiers, the grandparents, the babies.
