McLellan Moments

Now this is just absurd. I mean, aside from being stupid and wrong, it's immediately testable, a troublesome quality for stupid, wrong statements. If we truly can end the War on Terror at a time and place of our choosing, why not next Tuesday in a warm, sunny location? And if the president, by his own admission, can end it but refuses, is he really prepared to face the American people with the news that he's simply decided to extend the duration of this war? What's the rationale? Does he thirst for blood? Possess a Conanesque belief that the best thing in life is to crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women? Let's hear it.

Psst.
McClellan.

I think he just hit the wrong button on the one-liner jukebox in his head. His new nickname can be "MadLib" McClellan. Funny thing is that it makes about as much sense as everything thing else the Adminstration says.

Good grief, it's just more macho posturing from the folks who brought you "bring it on." Any attempts to analyze it for genuine meaning will lead to needless frustration.

When the whole premise on fighting terrorism is based upon it being a "War," its not surprising he'll say stupid stuff. E.g. The War on Drugs.

Most people's perception of Wars include them eventually ending. But that is just a dumb notion. Where there is extremism, there will be terrorism. What's most depressing is that this administration seems to think its in their capability to do so.

What I'd like to see you comment on, Ezra, is some of the right's insistence that OBL is getting the balls to come out with tapes like this specifically because of Democrat criticism of Iraq. I mean, the fucking nerve. Hannity did it last night when interviewing Tom Ridge.

>can end the War on Terror at a time and place of our choosing

This is what Scottie meant:
when: pigs fly
where: in your dreams

It's too sweet of a racket for them to shut it it down.

Scottiebot just got a couple of wires crossed. He's in the shop for a tune up and will be back this morning with a fresh script.

Posted by: Hoyt Pollard | Jan 20, 2006 10:43:19 AM

At least he didn't float the idea of "Negotiating With Al-Qaeda".

Posted by: Captain Toke | Jan 20, 2006 10:46:37 AM

McLellan with a fresh script ? The "repetition" mantra is working so well he's becoming incapable of anything resembling intelligent response.
White House press briefings are becoming a matter of "more of the same".
It's tempting to run an analysis of announcements to see how many times he repeats himself.

Heh, we're gonna smoke em out. And then we'll smoke em back in.

Idiot rednecks.

Posted by: Gary Sugar | Jan 20, 2006 12:05:59 PM

Why do people even show up to listen to WH briefing anymore?

Posted by: Eric | Jan 20, 2006 1:49:04 PM

The assumption that Scottie McClellan knows anything is actually unfounded.

"If we truly can end the War on Terror at a time and place of our choosing, why not next Tuesday in a warm, sunny location?"

DonBoy comment from yesterday:
'"The terrorists started this war and the president made it clear that we will end it at a time and place of our choosing."

Ok then...how about tomorrow? Is tomorrow good for you? Why aren't we choosing tomorrow?'

I guess it really is hard to come up with original blog posts day after day after day.

Is tomorrow good for you? Why aren't we choosing tomorrow?'

The question as to when is determined by results. If we left tomorrow, would we get the results we want? Are those the results *YOU* want?

You're obviously not listening: the question as to when is determined by the president! The White House spokesman said so, so it must be true.

Why do you hate America, Fred?

By the way, what are the "results we want"? According to the president, the results we wanted were the disarmament of Iraq's Weapons of Mass Destruction. Mission Accomplished! (Okay, so they didn't actually have a vast arsenal of WMD's to disarm. A minor technicality, really. The important point is that we are not NOW threatened by Iraq's WMD's!)

After saving America from the deadly threat of those non-existent WMD's, the president then said the results we wanted were regime change in Iraq. Hey, guess what, we got that one (and there was no cheating on that one, either! I mean, Saddam Hussein actually does exist! Those old photos of him and and his homey Donald Rumsfeld shaking hands were real!).

Those were the results the president wanted. And now at a time and place of his choosing (and I personally think that during carnival in Rio would totally rock!), he can end the war.

I just realized that Scott McClellan was the little mystery mascot of the Atlanta Olympics.
