A Vast, America-Transcending Conspiracy?
I want Jeff Session to elaborate on this:
“I think it is shocking that Democrats would treat [Soros] as a mainstream force of Democratic politics,” said Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.). “He has an agenda that transcends American interests.”
Is Sessions picking back up on Hastert's implication that Soros is a drug dealer? Is he calling the world's most generous and committed financier of democracy projects in post-Soviet states a Communist? Is he calling him a Nazi, a one-worlder, a fascist, a founding member of the Bilderberg Group, an Annunaki lizard from the fourth-dimension? What does "transcends American interests" even mean?
I'm giving Sessions' office a call to find out. When they give me an answer, I'll let you know.

Soros is obviously un-American, as a simple glance at an encyclopedia makes clear (emphasis added for further clarity): "Soros has been active as a philanthropist since 1979, when he began providing funds to help black students attend the University of Cape Town in apartheid South Africa. The other thing that sane people dislike about him is his belief in gun control.

Diane Feinstein, who regularly votes against guns actually has a concealed carry permit. In CA, you must be well connected or a famous Hollywood star to get one of these coveted licenses. They are not for the "little people". Nope, crime never happens to the poor. If you are poor and a nobody, you don't deserve a gun to protect yourself. However, if you are Diane Feinstein or George Soros....well that's a different story.

Thank you, Mastiff. Soros wants world government, which would restrict American sovereignty. That sounds like it's what Session was talking about. This would transcend American power, but it's not necessarily true that it would transcend American interests. The idea is that you make some concessions, the other guys make some concessions, and hopefully everyone comes out ahead. It's called cooperation. It worked when the states of America united, and looking to do something similar with all the countries of the world is not an obviously unreasonable idea.
I don't know why there's all this discussion of guns, the amount of support for each party (why is it relevant whether it's 48/52, 50/50, or 51/49?), or the Florida recount (though I should point out that Captain Toke's quote is highly misleading).

Fred and Captain are some of the most ignorant topic-changers to grace a comment board.
You say Soros is evil and that even with his money Democrats couldn't win because "people don't vote for your candidates". When someone points out that clearly people DO vote for Democrats, and often in numbers exceeding the Republicans, you change the subject like the commenters were complaining about losing. They were replying to the idea that no one votes for Democrats, which is so demonstrably false I'm surprised they even bothered to reply.
Really, why are you here? Do you disagree or agree with the Original Post, do you think Soros is too crazy to be a part of the American dialogue?
In fact, Soros himself believes he's out of the mainstream of Democratic politics - to the right! He has said he actually has Republican views of policies, such as taxes and economic growth. It is just that he realizes the current ruling crowd and their allies are so far out on right-field, especially in a jingoistic foreign policy that is harmful to American long term economic interests, that they need to be taught a lesson and move back to the center.

Just because you disagree with someone on one issue, doesn't mean you should distance yourself from that person completely. I don't believe in a world government (but I do the UN) and I'm not against gun ownership (just believe that strict gun laws are purposeful.) But I believe that Soros is an asset to my party and to the American people in general.
Matter of fact, it was a conservative himself that said in an earlier thread that focusing on 1 issue (abortion in that case) is not healthy and he was right.

A) It is in the constitution that citizens have a right to firearms. You know why? It is kind of like the citizens checks and balances. And to shoot dangerous and delicious animals.

I would love it if the NFL was set up like the electoral college.
Except, not every game would be equal. Some games would be worth more than others. Some are worth up to 10 times as many victory-points for the NFL Championship as other games are.
Oh, and the games don’t have the same number of players. Generally the one with the most players is the one with the most value. But the value isn’t directly proportional.
And some of these games don’t even have the same number of players on each side. There are a lot of games where there’s more players from the home team than the visiting team, or vice-versa. But that just means if the minority team wins, it’s a valuable upset.
And if a game ends in a tie, or is close by a few points, you don’t go into overtime. You just ask the referees to recount the points, or ask them to just decide who the winner was anyway.
That would be awesome!

Yeah Tony, there are rules in the NFL that are set before the season starts, and all the teams know the rules (or should). There are rules in elections set before the election happens and all sides know the rules. The left just gets mad after they lose and want to change the rules. Yeah, kinda like Andrew Jackson's complaints when John Quincy Adams won the presidency. And Hayes vs. Tilden...ignorant! Because the system never demonstrated a single flaw ever before, as we'd all know if we forgot history. Granted, the same system had a way to deal with glitches, too: have the states determine their electors, and any controversies in slates of electors are handled by Congress. Or, all the originalists on the Supreme Court could ignore this in order to decide the outcome instead. Lucky for them that only liberal judges can be activist, by definition.
The means of choosing presidents, vice presidents, and senators has also changed during that 200 years, so I guess ignorantly crying foul has been a recurring theme in this country.
Regardless, I'm glad that the reason Senator Sessions felt compelled to smear Mr. Soros and his sinister international agenda is because of the Constitution's current means of electing presidents and senators. Thanks for clearing that up for us.

Jeff Sessions is an elected official. Mr. Soros has no formal role whatsoever, and that includes within the Democratic Party. Jeff Sessions, the elected official, used extremely familar rhetoric to smear Mr. Soros, who has no formal role whatsoever. Therefore, Mr. Soros is to blame, because he's not Rupert Murdoch or Richard Mellon Scaife. (Also to blame are the Twelfth, Fourteenth, Seventeenth, Twentieth, and Twenty-third Amendments to the Constitution, which ignorantly changed our "over 200-year-old" system of elections. But that's straying from the topic again.)
And yeah, the caterwauling of the left about the undue influence of unregulated money in politics falls silent when Mr. Soros openly raises money in accordance with the current laws...the ones that Mitch McConnell, who is an elected official, has crusaded against from Day One. But I promise you: when George Soros buys legislation from Congress, gets no-bid contracts because of his connections to the White House, and gets to play a preeminent role in secret Vice Presidential task forces that set policy for, er, international financiering, then I'll complain about him, too. Until there's any indication of that going on, just hang on to the "sinister international agenda of the money power" rhetoric you so ardently defend, okay?

The myth that everyone who thinks guns are valuable were steeped in gun culture is simply that...a myth. It doesn't take a great deal of logic to understand that guns are effective, portable self defense devices...that is why the police carry them.
