Pandagon Reunion: Class of '05
As you've probably noticed, Jesse Taylor, of Pandagon fame and Springer for Ohio fortune, posted this morning. He's in town for my 21st -- yes, I'm that young -- which should put the lie to lingering suspicions of our furious fallout. Which isn't to say he didn't, in fact, steal the money, just that I have no proof. In any case, we have to keep up appearances, so he'll be posting here during his stay. Expect more funny.
Speaking of the big 21st, I've a midterm on Monday (my birthday), Tuesday (my hangover), and Wednesday, so his contributions are much appreciated, and should keep the site humming along nicely where it'd otherwise crash into my workload, littering my dorm room with mangled neurons and empty Starbucks cups. Also, on Tuesday, we're going to hold court hang out at a Westwood bar for the evening and have a little blogger/reader get together. If you'd like to drop by, shoot me an e-mail. Otherwise, you'll probably hear more about it as it gets closer.

Are you freaking kidding me? You aren't even 21 yet? I feel like such a loser, at your age I was petty criminal college dropout.
Well, you're wise beyond your years, enjoy your B day. Happy Birthday,
Jon

it's not that big of a deal. the only things that happened to me since my 21st are a) i stopped caring about my studies and b) i started drinking heavily
hmmm maybe there is a connection there.. gotta figure it out later, it's beer thirty!!

Happy 21st, Ezra! (For Monday)
Damn. I knew you were young, but wow.
My birthday (just coming up on the 12th) is around the corner too. We early-may babies well know the pain of having finals on our birthdays.
I'll be 25 -- cue quarter-life crisis.

Very happy BD, Ezra. You have accomplished much, but I suspect you are a name that we'll be hearing even more about for many years to come.
Best wishes!
(And now you can legally have that bar party, as well)

Happy Birthday Ezra. I confess to a wee bit of surprise that you are just hitting the legal drinking age, although I assumed you were still at a fairly tender age, being in college and all. But you needn't worry that us middle-aged readers (I'm not the only one, am I??) will abandon you now that we know how recently you left diapers behind. Maturity and intelligence outweigh chronological age any day. Just don't kill too many brain cells this weekend!

Happy Birthday, Ezra.
When we are young, we look forward to these as they mean more acceptance, power and rights.
The really big shock is still to come when the check-out girl at the grocery store calls you "Sir" for the first time and you know she means it!!
Remember Mom's day, too!

ahhhhh.....yeah, my 21st was the same. My birthday was the 12th and I had chemical engineering exams the 11th, the 12th, and the 13th. Ended up having one beer on my birthday with a couple classmates. still, make sure you go out and get wasted next weekend. congrats on being legal

You guys got to get the band back together, dog, there's some gal who has taken over Pandagon.net and is posting about sex toy parties. Where are the links to the Town Hall columns I used to love?

Christ, I'm old enough to be your father. Time to stick my head in the oven.
BTW, Ezra, you still planning on studying in Brazil?

What I could never figure out about you and Jesse is how you could be so young, yet write about the '80s as if you were politcally aware back then. It's amazing. Happy 21st!

So why does physical proximity lead so effortlessly to sharing the same virtual space? Isn't this terribly anti-internet-philosophy, or something?
Happy birthday!

R. Robot,
There are many of us that feel the same way. Now, Pandagon is as much of a feminist bitch-fest as anything else.
Disappointing, isn't it?

Zim, I never thought I'd write this, but I agree: Pandagon has dropped from my bookmarks list. Amanda is too much of a lightweight. I can handle her shrill, one-note, everything-is-about-male-domination bleatings, but when she goes off on micro topics like smoking in Austin, she becomes too Lileks-like for my tastes.

I have been thinking about dropping it too. The registration policy dosen't help.
Posted by: William Bollinger | May 9, 2005 11:44:06 AM
Ooh, you boys are right. How dare she write about something that doesn't directly relate to you? I have a feeling no one at Pandagon is going to miss you guys at all. Oh, and RZ, we all know you didn't stop going to Pandagon, you got booted out for being a psychotic stalker.
Posted by: jengould | May 9, 2005 10:33:00 PM
jengould,
Don't buy into her "stalking" bullshit.
Jesse never had any problems with me or anyone else until Miss Amanda took over. Isn't it amazing that Ezra doesn't have the same problems?
Amanda is an uneducated dolt. Also, she was cheating the taxpayers that pay her salary by spending half the working day posting her never-ending, half-baked "Men suck" dribble.
She was a poor choice for Jesse to make. Perhaps he wanted to radicalize his site Perhaps he is having second thoughts. Read the previous posts.
It ain't just me.

Actually, Amanda had very little to do with it for me. I had already seen a drop in quality, and their new registration policy is what really clinched it. I still read, but less and less.
